Our history

In 1910 a number of Freemasons met with the intention of forming a new Lodge. When this was achieved, the new Lodge was named ‘Lodge Morningside’. The inaugural Installation was held on Tuesday 28th June, 1910 and the Lodge met regularly under dispensation until December 1910 when the Lodge charter arrived from the District Grand Lodge of Scotland. The number of the Lodge was 1079, Scottish Constitution. The Lodge continued to operate under this charter until 1921.

When the United Grand Lodge of Queensland was formed and the Lodges were invited to join, our Lodge name and number were changed to become ‘The Morningside Lodge’ and our new number was 196. This is the charter we work under to this day.
