Character of our Lodge

Located in the picturesque sugar cane town of Mossman, The Lodge meets at the Masonic Centre in Mossman. The building stands alone on the right handside of the road going north out of Mossman. It is the only lodge that meets in the area.

Lodge events

The Lodge has a stall at the annual Mossman Show each July and from time to time holds events such as Barefoot Bowls and inter lodge Bowls Tournaments at the Mossman Bowls Club. Should you wish to find out more please contact the Lodge Secretary.

Our history

The Port Douglas-Mossman Lodge No 40H came into being following the amalgamation of Douglas Lodge and Mossman Lodge. This occurred in 1935 after a meeting of delegates from the two respective Lodges. A petition to District Grand Lodge seeking amalgamation of the two lodges was successful.

The first Installation was held on the 16th September 1936 with W Bro J. Cabassi as the newly installed Master of the Lodge. The present Lodge Temple, which replaced the original building, was erected by voluntary labour of Lodge brethren. Construction began on the 1st June 1957 and was completed on the 14th April 1958, the day of the consecration.

Lodge Meetings

Freemasons are a diverse group of men from all walks of life, from many religions and many backgrounds. Becoming a Freemason is a commitment to develop your own potential, to values that see all humankind as equal, and to helping others in our community.
