Character of our Lodge

We are a small and close-knit lodge with a keen focus on education and shared learning. At each of our practice meetings we hold a short educational discussion, which is often continued after the practice in a social and convivial atmosphere.

Lodge events

In addition to Lodge meetings we believe in involving families and friends in activities that range from get-togethers after meetings to fundraising for worthwhile causes.

The Lodge’s events each year include:

  • Our annual prawn and pizza night on the second Monday in October, where the tables are filled with an abundance of local prawns straight off the trawler
  • Our annual Christmas feast in December (family and friends welcome)
  • On the Saturday nearest St Patrick's day (17th March), a combined meeting with some of the other Irish Heritage Lodges in Queensland (hosted in rotation) with visitors from far and wide and a fantastic feast afterwards.

In addition to Lodge meetings – see below – we believe in involving families and friends in activities that range from get-togethers after meetings to fundraising for worthwhile causes.

Our history

Southern Queensland Lodge, No 312 on the roll of the Grand Lodge of Ireland, was consecrated on 15 July 1878 in Beenleigh, Queensland, and has held meetings regularly since then.

In 1904, the lodge was one of the 25 Irish and 14 Scottish Lodges that formed the Grand Lodge of Queensland.

On the 27 April 1921, the Lodge became Southern Queensland No 29 on the roll of the United Grand Lodge of Queensland.
