Freemasonry philosophy

Freemasonry opens the door to men of good character from all walks of life and from diverse religions. You’ll always find a friendly welcome – we’re ordinary men developing our potential, supporting each other and working for good in the community. Learn more

Character of our Lodge

Although small in numbers (usually around 29 on the roll) Rathdowney is big in friendship. A lot of our members travel well over 100 kilometres to attend practices and lodge each month.

Lodge events

In addition to Lodge meetings we believe in involving families and friends in activities that range from get-togethers after meetings to fundraising for worthwhile causes. Contact the Lodge Secretary for more details.

Our meetings are the first Saturday of the month starting at 7.30pm.  However there are no meetings held in January. The installation is held on the second Saturday in July, from 5.00pm.

Our history

For over 90 years our Lodge has been a part of the Rathdowney community. Although small in numbers (usually around 29 on the roll), Rathdowney is big in friendship. A lot of our members travel well over 100 kilometres to attend practices and Lodge each month.

Lodge Meetings

Our regular monthly meetings are held on the first Saturday of the month at 7.30pm, except in January when there is no meeting.

We also have an annual meeting where the new Master and officers are invested for the following 12 months. The next one will be on the 3nd Saturday in July.

Freemasons are a diverse group of men from all walks of life, from many religions and many backgrounds. Becoming a Freemason is a commitment to develop your own potential, to values that see all humankind as equal, and to helping others in our community.
